What is a Primary ID?

A Primary ID is an ID with your name and a photo of yourself.

Updated over 6 months ago

When opening a Stable address, we need to file a USPS 1583 form in order to comply with USPS federal requirements. In order to verify your identity, this form requires you provide a Primary ID.

You do not need to be a US Citizen to open a Stable account and you can use a passport or photo ID from a different country.

Your Primary ID must include your name and a photo of yourself. Valid forms of Primary ID include:

For US-based customers:

  • Driver’s license

  • Passport or passport card

  • Non-driver’s identification card

  • U.S. Armed Forces card

  • U.S. permanent resident or other identification card issued by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services

For Customers Outside the US:

  • Foreign passport

  • Driver's license

  • Non-driver's national identification card (must be up-to-date and include photo)
