How does Stable help me change my address?

We guide you through switching your address compliantly.

When switching your address to Stable, you'll need to update it with vendors, government entities, tax institutions, and others so you don't miss important documents.

Understanding where and how to change your address can be confusing. We simplify this by walking you through the process directly in your Stable dashboard.

How it works

After you answer a few questions about your previous addresses (and your business details, if applicable), we generate a personalized checklist of tasks. These tasks cover:

  • Mail forwarding. We guide you through submitting the USPS Change of Address form with a video walkthrough and detailed tips so mail from your old address gets forwarded to Stable.

  • IRS notification (businesses only). We pre-fill IRS Form 8822-B with your business information. You review it, download the completed form, sign it, and mail it to the IRS.

  • Vendor updates (businesses only). Based on the services you use (banking, payroll, insurance, accounting, and others), we create a list of vendors to update with instructions for each one.

  • State and local compliance (businesses only). Depending on where your business operates, we identify the state agencies and filings that need your updated address, like the Secretary of State or Department of Revenue.

Tasks are shown on your dashboard and can be completed at your own pace. You can track your progress, mark tasks as done, or dismiss tasks that don't apply to your situation.

If you don't need to change your address, we also help you set up USPS mail forwarding so your mail reaches Stable without a full address change.
